A: hmm.  maybe steel?  they are heavy duty, and very sharp.

**Q: Has anyone taken these apart to sharpen them? I have a pair from a different brand, and now the nut and bolt won't hold together after disassembly.**
A: Do not take apart. Sharpen with any sharpener designed to sharpen plant pruners. I have sharpened 8-9 times over several years.

**Q: Will this tool work on potbelly pigs?**
A: Yes I use it on my potbelly pig. Very sharp.
