We recommend sterilization by boiling for hygienic reasons. The water rinses out any possible contaminants. However, this does not mean that there are any harmful substances in NUK soothers or that other types of sterilization are prohibited. If you rinse the soothers briefly in running water before sterilization, you can place them in the steam sterilizer. Always make sure that only clean dummies are sterilized in the sterilizer. Microwave sterilisation must only take place either in the micro-vaporiser or in the dummy box. Care must always be taken to use the correct amount of water and the correct power (how many watts) - the details can be found in the instructions for use. When sterilizing in dummy boxes, always place the dummy containers on the edge of the plate, otherwise the dummies will melt. We’ve tried a wide variety of them since my son was newborn (6m now) and these are the ones we BOTH truly settled on. I say both, because we had other dummies for his age range and they were smaller. My son, being the adventurous boy he is, loves to explore his dummy. Previous, smaller dummies, have actually gotten stuck partially inside his mouth.
