I dont think that the seal is tight enough. I stopped using it after a few times. I've been just adding them into the water.My Mom suggested I get something to put them in that would make it easy to remove when the "good" is gone. So I looked and found this. The 2 inch one is perfect and keeps the spices in one easy to clean unit. I would recommend this technique to anyone. This particular item is very well constructed and strudy.
