Wow. This one will keep your bedside light on until the small hours - it's unputdownable. (Richard & Judy)Kent is an extremely fine writer and makes terrific use in particular of the Fens' waterlogged, empty landscape in which secrets can be easily buried if never quite forgotten...Terrifyingly good (Metro)Shocking in the extreme. The Loving Husband is a twisted psychological thriller (Sun)Atmospheric and psychologically acute throughout (Sunday Times)Christobel Kent is one of our most assured thriller writers. The Loving Husband is a perfectly paced and plotted novel (Good Housekeeping)Firmly in the currently fashionable "domestic noir" genre, but this is no catchpenny trend-chasing; Kent effortlessly rises above other entries in the field . . . the familiar is confronted and inverted and Kent's ace in the hole is her keen penetration of the characters' psychology, particularly that of beleaguered heroine Fran (Barry Forshaw Financial Times)Unsettling domestic thriller . . . Spooky and skilfully written, this is one to race through (Sunday Mirror)Fans of a good old-fashioned page-turner will love this (Closer)A finely-crafted series of flashbacks . . . excellent thriller . . . tense, dense, extremely well-plotted and beautifully written, this is a fine example of the Domestic Noir genre (Sunday Irish Independent)A tautly plotted trail of red herrings, scares and eventual revelations that keep the Gone Girl fever-type buzz alive (Jon Wise Weekend Sport)

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐ Confused

*by A***L on 4 February 2017*

Total rubbish. Dont know why i continued to read it to the end. None of the characters were sympathetic except the young children. The plot bounced round time lin aconfusing manner and wandered so much that the story became unbelievable.

### ⭐ A disappointing read.

*by M***V on 1 July 2017*

I agree with the reviews that I read. The book wasn't badly written - and I did plod on to the bitter end - and then wondered why I'd bothered! The story was really silly with very few interesting characters, it just seemed to get worse and worse towards the end. I was glad when I finished it. Would not recommend.

### ⭐ From the first page I knew I wouldn't like the story despite the good synopsis

*by M***T on 12 March 2018*

If you want to feel morbid then this is the book for you! I can't help but wonder if authors who write these sort of books suffer from clinical depression. From the first page I knew I wouldn't like the story despite the good synopsis. It was written in a jerky fashion with unfinished sentences, sentences consisting of one word (if there is such a thing) or without a verb, also, the 'ly' endings were often missing off adverbs. Half way through I couldn't stand it anymore and skipped through various passages to the last chapters. I certainly won't be reading anymore of Christobel Kent's books if they are all of such a depressing content as this one is, in fact, I just couldn't wait to read a good dose of Carole Matthews wit to cheer myself up again.
