It comes flat, you will construct it, lid with the plastic window is separate, so there are two bits of cardboard really **Q: What size cake board fits in this** A: It's a 12" box so a 12" board!! **Q: Does this keep the cake fresh** A: I make cakes and always deliver cakes in these type of boxes and can say they keep fresh until customer uses them, usually 3 days if kept cool. If you want to keep cake longer you want to use a sealed container. Hope this helps. **Q: Is it sturdy enough?** A: It does the job just fine - not a tough as the more expensive boxes.
