I can't speak for other recent Craftsman routers, but this Bosch works on the model listed above. If you undertake a similar search for your router, you should definitely test the functionality of the collet using a well-balanced 1/2" shank bit. A few short bursts of power should be tried first to make sure there are no fit issues between the router and the collet, and between the collet and the bit. Any vibration or loosening of the bit means you don't have a combination that should be allowed to run at full speed. It was instantly noticeable, and I laughed at how long I had waited. I'd used the original one for years, so it lasted a while, but after a thousand or more times swapping bits it simply wore down.
