There are a few routers from different manuacturers that take the same type of collet. Hitachi is not one of them and you need a Hitachi specific collet for your model of router. Collets are very impotant, but often overlooked parts of a router. They need to hold a cutter revolving at between 20,000 and 30,000 rpm. This is not like your power drill which tops out at about 3000 rpm at the most. Buy the original manufactrers collet, not a cheap chinese item that says it is compatable. It will cost more but you reduce the possibility of hurting yourself!. I hope this is useful. John **Q: Can anyone tell me what size the thread is on the nut, and what size spanner does it take.
