The pieces are clearly printed on the flat tops and the magnets are strong but not in a way that makes you feel like you have to pry them apart to play. The fold is nice and you can mostly save a game in process if you have to but the pieces on the home rows will bump into each other a bit when fully closed. They don't move too much though and they don't fall off completely so the positions can be easily fixed. It's lightweight and made to travel so I don't feel like its trying to fall apart in any way. The pieces are small though so if you have eyesight issues, you might want to look for a set with the pieces printed larger or shaped like the classic pieces. It is extremely compact; about as small is it can get without being unplayable. It can easily fit into a small backpack or purse. The magnets are very strong, so you can roll up the board mid-game, throw it into a bag, and finish the game later. I like how it came with two extra queens, and two extra blank pieces, along with stickers of every piece in case you lose some. The board feels very well put together and built to last. The included carrying bag is decent. All that being said, I don't recommend this unless you need a very small set. It is just a lot more difficult to play than the larger, 15" folding travel sets due to the small piece size.
