Not carryon, but personal item.** A: If you only pack soft clothing/materials that are smooshable, then the tight AND the expanded size will fit a Spirit personal item requirements. If you have hard items such as ipads, laptops, etc. in the expanded version, it may be too big. Just a note: I tested the expanded version in the Spirit and Frontier personal items bins. If I was to clean it I would spot clean only. Its the best travel bag I have ever had.
