I ask because Amazon recently notified me that an item we gave as a gift was counterfeit. Eyes too valuable!** A: Yes, preparing for August eclipse, I've made several filter holders for both telescopes and binoculars with this material from Thousand Oaks Optical. (Sandwich a circle of the material between two slightly-larger rings of 1-inch and 1/2-inch thick Styrofoam using white glue. Inside diameter of 1-inch ring should make snug fit over telescope or binocular. Be sure silver side of film faces out, toward the sun.) **Q: will this cover a 95mm lens?** A: You could make at least 4 out of each sheet, and depending on how you mount it, possibly up to 9 95 mm circles. **Q: I have an astroview 120 eq telescope will the 12"x 12" solar filter work for me to make a filter? Is this all i need to view the sun?** A: I used it on a 50 mm finderscope and a 30 mm finderscope - they worked fine. I also built one for a 5 inch scope, but haven't tested it yet. Make sure that you build the filter to fit over the aperture (the big part of the scope), not the eyepiece. Also, be very careful about possible light leakage.
