Review: Soothe 520nm Narrow-Band Green Light Lamp - I have dysautonomia and suffer from chronic migraine. Due to complexity of my health conditions, I couldn’t find much relief from any of the migraine medications my neurologist prescribed. So through research, recently I’ve started trying some of the migraine glasses (both green and pink one) and this Soothe 520nm Narrow-Band Green Light Lamp. I know one of my migraine triggers is light sensitivity, so I was skeptical, almost scared to try this green light at first, but I was kind of surprised by the results. The Sooth green light is not heavy, sitting pretty nicely on a desk or night table. The silver color base is the ON-Dim-Off switch. Once plugged in, you lightly touch the silver part of the light will turn the light on High, touch it again dim to Medium, touch it second time dim to Low, and touch once more to turn it off. I personally feel the Hight setting is little too bright for me, so I mostly use it on the Medium setting during the day, and at night I use the Low setting. Some of you might not know this, a lot of the dimmable LED lights are not truly dimming. Those light just flashes at high frequency when dimmed, so our eyes perceive the lights as dimmed, because it’s flashing at higher frequency than our eyes can recognize. Our eyes don’t see the flashing, but our brains will feel it when exposed to that kind of flashing LEDs, and this can be problematic for migraine sufferers. So, when I receive this green light, the 1st thing I tested was to see if it’s flashing on the dim settings, and I pleasantly discovered that this light doesn’t flash on the dimmer settings, and that, takes technology, the computer chip used in the light has more expensive program and parts to achieve this only on high end LED chips have this kind of technology. After I know this, I felt more comfortable to use this light in longer duration, and found the green light is very calming and comforting. During the days when I have severe migraine attacks, I use both the green glasses and this green light, and found they will, of course can’t make the migraines completely go away, but absolutely make it more bearable for me on those days. And I found it helps me to fall asleep if I have it on Low setting for about ½ hour before going to bed. For the price, consider the technology used in this light’s LED chip, I think the price is fair, but I have the following recommendations to make this light even better. 1st, the sensitivity to turn on/off the light can be adjusted to a Long Hold instead of a slight touch. Sometime when I’m using the light, my arm or sometimes my dog slightly touch the base of the light, will either dim it or turn it off. A Long Hold for about 2 second between each setting will fix this issue. 2nd, this light could have a rechargeable battery, while the plug in is not too inconvenient, a build in rechargeable battery will give this light more mobility and easily bring it on the go. 3rd, a simple auto off timer will improve the functionality of this light. So, at night, I can just fall asleep and don’t have to turn it off then go back to fall back asleep. So, if you have chronic migraines or other chronic conditions due to light sensitivity, the Soothe 520nm Green Light Lamp is absolutely worth a try. It’s a drug-free no side effect tool to help us migraine sufferers to find some potential relief and hopefully improve the quality of life!
