I purchased this in tan and loved it. The back shields your neck and the sides can be snapped together in the front to keep the sun off your jawline and neck. There is also a front attachment if you need your mouth and nose covered..maybe for dusty days. I loved the hat so much I returned to desertcart and purchased it in Pink. The hat is lightweight and stays secure when you pull the drawstring. There is ventilation in the hat as well. I am thinking of buying a third one. The flap on the back and the flap on the front completely cover my neck and from my nose down. It also has a strap to keep it from blowing away in the wind. I dont think alcohol will affect or weaken the material at all.
