Having a sick dog is kind of tricky because detecting a raised temperature is more difficult than detecting one in your kids. What makes it tricky is that dogs naturally have a higher body temperature. For a dog, a normal temperature lies between 101℉ and 102.5℉ (38.3-39.2ºC). A normal temperature for us lies between 97.6℉ to 99.6℉ (36.4-37.6ºC). Comfortable and fast Having a thermometer around that you only use for your dog is essential. We designed our thermometer to be convenient to use. It has a flexible tip so that measuring your pet’s temperature is as comfortable as possible. The thermometer only takes 20 seconds to give a temperature. You don’t have to wait and worry and it’s a quick and painless experience for your pet. Waterproof for more hygiene It’s important to clean your thermometer after every use. The DTK-117 is waterproof and easy to clean, making it less of a nuisance. I contacted the company via email and was promptly sent another one. Maybe the batteries died, I'm not sure. Customer service was excellent and also funny... 5 STARS... you're my fave person! LOL. Anyway, I started using the thermometer only the other day on my pregnant girl (dog). I also bought the iProven Disposable Probe Covers and these work perfectly together with a little petroleum jelly to get a good temperature reading. I will admit it's not the fastest reading thermometer, however it is so small that it doesn't bother my girl to wait for the beep when it has reached temp and I think it is accurate. I have a larger sized thermometer, but I feel better using this one for her since she's only about 10lbs.
