I have two knee replacements and personally just need a little something to keep my balance. I never moved the two in my bath room so they are solid. But in my guest bathroom I had to lower one of them and then I could not get it to securely adhere. I tried the hairdryer trick to no avail. What did work was using rubbing alcohol to clean both the suction cups and the surface. My recent elderly visitor was able to use these to step into and out of the tub securely So I really think these are not that suitable for always detaching and moving around but if needed in one place they work great.
