There is a soft flexible case that is surrounded by a hard shell. The combination creates an excellent distribution of force upon impact from a fall. Additionally the back of the phone is flush/ flat so the phone is stable when set on a flat surface. This case is the only case I have seen on Amazon that has no camera frame protruding from the back. In my opinion this is a better design to protect the cameras and glass back effectively. These camera frames protrude from the back of most cases and create a vulnerable impact location. I have witnessed that when the phone is dropped and the camera lens frame hits first, it acts like a hammer smashing the glass back. This phone case does not have this frame because it is a flush back.
