As i am buying curtains with with 1.5" in diameter, so wondering if they would go through this rod?** A: It's only a couple of cms at the ends, you'll be fine if your curtains have 1.5 inches (3.8cms) headers. These rods are surprisingly sturdy, even holding a heavy thermal curtain by the back door. Just make sure you twist/untwist enough for the rod to have enough grip, if your curtains are heavy. I used curtain rings for ease of opening the heavy curtains and I've not had any problems. Not fallen down yet and been up over a year! I use mine for heavyweight Nottingham Lace type net curtains, 6 ft wide x 90" drop. It copes well, although I wouldn't use it for anything much heavier than this. You twist to the appropriate length and then compress it to fit your window and it then springs out for a tight fit.
