Using this device is really a two person job. Our system is simple. We get her breakfast ready and then load the pill popper. We use slightly warm water rather than cold and our vet said cats quite like the water flavoured with Marmite or something like that.One of us picks her up without using a towel and wraps right hand index and forefinger round her paws , holding her firmly so she can’t scratch. The other then opens her mouth and administers the pill, holds her mouth closed and rubs her chin. Down it goes.Our system took a little practice but after a couple of weeks we got is off to a T. Not using a towel and being efficient in administering the pill reduces stress for her. From picking her up to putting her down for breakfast we can do the whole thing in ten to fifteen seconds flat. Great product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Success first time...or so I thought! *by I***W on 30 November 2013* Following a recent trip to the vets with one of my cats - suspected UTI or cystitis - I decided to buy some medication to give to him on a daily bases - as a future precautionary measure. I have never really found putting tablets in their food quite effective, as either the cat does not finish all of the food leaving some of the powder of the tablet uneaten, or he smells it in the food and avoids it. I opted for one of these pill-poppers having used one before that the vet gave me and finding it useful with another cat I had years ago. It arrived very fast and I gave him his tablet tonight using this. This was so easy..... ah, or so I thought! Apart from having to bear to have someone hold your dear friend while you prise his mouth open and fire the trigger , there is also the fact that it does not always succeed in getting the pill down the cat's throat :/ He was not too impressed and looked rather wide-eyed and startled, but it was down the throat...or was it? Well I thought it was until I then spotted it on the floor! Whether he spat it out afterwards, when he thought we weren't looking, or it just fired in the opposite direction to his mouth. Whatever, it failed and has every time since! Every time it ends up anywhere but down his throat. I have since just prised the capsule in half (as luckily these capsules pull part) and I tip the powder in with his meat and mix it in, he eats all his meat none the wiser ;)This particular tablet I give is long and thin, like a Paracetamol capsule we would take (just a bit smaller). I thought at first this may be tricky as of the shape of the tablet, and it may crush and split it, but it popped in to the claw on the pill-popper easily, just a pity it didn't go down the cat's throat ;)I would recommend this as it does fire extremely well, and I can see it would (with some cats - maybe dogs mainly) make giving tablets so much easier and takes seconds to administer - that is if your cat/dog is compliant!! :P ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Idea, Works Wonders *by B***Y on 28 October 2016* A simple idea but it works wonders. We have two cats, a big daft Main Coon and a moggy. The MC will eat anything, tablets or otherwise. No problem with him. The moggy is a different story. He'll pick the tiniest tablet out of wet or dry food and will not take them no matter what we tried. This thing is easy - hold him, gently open his mouth, in goes the tablet, all done! Fantastic product that works wonders. Oh, and you can use this as many times as you like, just give it a quick was after use. The 'single use' is just a reference to one tablet at a time, that's all.
