I can't comment on the breathable aspect because I do walk 10 to 13 miles and my body does produce a lot of heat after a while. And I don't want to complain or steer people away because it really is a wonderfully made hat and that keeps head and ears covered and warm. Light weight, soft. It doesn't have any weird smell.
