I placed the ZonLi Japanese Floor Futon Mattress on top of the worn-in six inch futon mattress I had but could not afford to replace. That was a few years ago. The addition of this product improved comfort such that I have yet to replace the ensemble. The pad itself is not very thick however it provides a soft, medium firmness. Overall, this product is durably tailored - no rips or separations at the seams have occurred from daily/regular use and I have encountered no release of micro particles into the air. The cut of one side of the mattress is slightly askewed, however, the imperfection has not minimized or decreased functionality. I would recommend this product.
