I was going to remedy the problem by getting a yoga towel to put over it but all of the ones I found that look good are for longer yoga mats so I've ended up buying a new mat to go with the towel I wanted. It grips well to carpet but can bunch up a bit on hard flooring and the ends tend to roll up a bit.
