I no longer “can,” as in “putting up”. But here’s an interesting question: why did I recently buy more one-quart Ball jars from Amazon after having bought a flat of 12 at my local hardware store several years ago? Because 1) I have so many jars already employed in my refrigerator holding grains and rices; and in my freezer holding partially-cooked ingredients; and 2) of course, a good host loves to send guests home with goodies, and liquids travel in Ball jars. I have Ball jars in my freezer with so many partially-cooked ingredients ready to go into my next casserole: blanched greens, sweet corn, aquafaba, and more…..and then the grains and rices after their containers were partially opened: hello, folks, yes, you DO need to refrigerate any and all grains/rices in the fridge—especially after they’re opened, and for that you need a Ball jar.
