The bottom is soft rubber so it can easily collapse and allow the lid to close. The colors are just as advertised. I haven’t seen any leaks. I fill them the night before including ice and leave in the fridge. Kids take to school and by the time they come home they still have ice inside (and it’s 100+ degree days here) so the insulation works well. I liked the first one so much, I bought a second.
