The skirt has pockets that hold my phone and iPods and keys. There is a pocket on the shorts underneath too. That's where I really like to keep my phone so it stays flat and doesn't move when walking. The shorts only have a pocket on one side though and it is built for right-handed women. Sucks to be left-handed. Oh well. I would recommend this skirt for another reason. It is built longer than many of the other skirts out there for sports activities. I have a 34" inseam in pants and this longer skirt is VERY WELCOME. It won't make you (if you if you have long legs) look like your hem goes all the way up to Alaska.
