I've used it in the bathroom on a rug and it's stayed put. **Q: can I used to step into a pool or would it float?** A: This step is made from very heavy dense plastic. We bought this and problem solved. Tried others which were either too high or too low or too flimsy. This is very durable and study. Nice design with 2 levels. About 1/2" larger in width and length than others. This little added size makes it more comfortable using to elevate feet or to use as stepping stool. Rubber pad has grip but does not irritate bare feet.
