I got the flight jacket version and the the leather is high-quality and looks really stunning. the leather feels high-quality and well finished. the stitching is even and consistent, and the fit is perfect for my "field notes" notebooks.The cover is soft so it opens and closes easily but the weight of the leather helps keep the notebook fully open or firmly closed when lying flat on my desk.The only criticism i have is that the inner pockets- where you tuck the notebook cover so it holds the notebook in place- are the same, thick-ish, leather used for the outer cover. some might consider this a plus but for me, it makes the cover much thicker than it needs to be. I wish they had used a thin nylon material (something like Big Skinny uses in their wallets) for the inner pockets.The cover doesn't add so much thickness that it bothers me during use or during carry though. It still fits nicely into my pocket and, as mentioned already, it also looks fantastic. I have received many compliments.Overall i am very satisfied. if you want a good looking cover for your pocket book to keep it from falling apart, this is a great option. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars High quality leather, but pockets are a wee bit too small for Field Notes *by R***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2014* I like to carry a notebook with me everywhere I go. For years, my notebook of choice has been Field Notes. I love their price, their durability, their light weight, and their small size. After awhile using the basic, craft paper Field Notes notebooks, I noticed that the constant wear and tear of keeping one in my back pocket all the time was crumpling these notebooks and ruining the craft paper covers. All in all, that's fine, because I don't much care about how my notebooks look. But since these leather covers are inexpensive, I decided hey, let's add a bit of class to the utility of my notebooks.In terms of class, this was a good choice. The grain on my Flight Jacket cover is very tight, and the staining job is excellent. This easily looks like a piece of leather I might have paid twice what I did for.Unfortunately, because this leather cover is supposed to *do* something, looks must come secondary to function, and that's where I'm having problems. These feature a large pocket on the inside of each cover, and the sole method of securing your notebook is inserting the notebook's front and/or back into these pockets. Therein lies the problem with Field Notes notebooks.So your standard Field Notes notebook is made of paper. The problem with paper is that it's not very rigid, and trying to wiggle a craft paper cover into a super tight-fitting leather pocket is an effort against futility. The pockets just need to be a wee bit bigger. There's not enough clearance inside the pocket to "wiggle" the page in, so you're stuck trying to use rigidity tricks you might have learned trying to fit way more papers into your high school Trapper Keeper than it was ever designed to fit. As you probably remember from high school, those efforts occasionally resulted in disaster, like when you ripped a giant gash in your Macbeth rough draft. So far the lives of two very innocent Field Notes notebooks have been lost in the effort to tame this beast of a leather cover, and I can't help but wonder, o ye gods of manufacturing, what dark and terrible costs are brought by these covers that an extra 2mm on the pockets cannot be justified by the protecting of innocent notebooks!Once you get your notebook securely fitted, the cover is great. It just sucks I'm made to dread the day when I will have used every last page in the notebook that's in there and be forced to replace it.Also, the cover isn't pre-creased. When it first arrives, it's just a flat piece of leather with two pockets. There's an obvious reason for this, which is that the notebooks that it works with are all different thicknesses (so you need to be able to make your own crease), but it was kind of a surprise to me when I first opened the thing. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great notebook cover *by T***N on Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2013* This is an extremely nice cover for Moleskine Cahiers and Field Notes pocket notebooks, I've loaded it with both and they fit great. I ordered the pocket sized cover in the "Flight Jacket" color, and out of the box it's a nice deep brown with just the right touch of character to the leather. The quality of the leather and stitching is excellent, and the weight and texture of the leather seems perfect for the intended use - soft enough to lay flat when opened, but sturdy enough that I'm sure it will last for years.After a couple weeks abusing it in my back pocket loaded with a Field Notes notebook, even with some extra effort on my part to test it's durability, it still looks brand new. Beyond some crinkled pages (certainly not the fault of this cover) the notebook itself is in surprisingly great shape; I have little doubt the notebook would be pretty worse for wear by now had it been carried in the same fashion without a cover.The cover itself is made from a single piece of leather, and is stitched all the way around and along the edge of the internal pockets that hold the notebook, giving it a nicely finished appearance. It adds a nice "dressiness" to your notebook that will likely gather comments from others who see it, as opposed to sideways glances directed at your tattered wad of paper an uncovered notebook will undoubtedly become after a couple months of wear.It seems they've also put some thought into the depth of the pockets as well, they're deep enough that the notebook won't fall out unintentionally, but shallow enough to allow easy notebook replacement. The pockets also work great for holding business cards or other miscellaneous pieces of paper without worrying about them falling out, a nice bonus for anyone disappointed by the "flap" that usually fails quickly in Moleskine notebooks.Overall I'm pleasantly surprised by this notebook cover. It looks great and I have little doubt it will hold up well against back-pocket abuse.
