Because I only wanted two panels on the dog gate they had trouble staying up and supported so I screwed them directly on. They were better supported but still tilting because they weren’t reaching flush to the floor so I added those round plastic feet that you put on the bottom of chairs that you hammer in with the attached nail and bam! It was leveled and I finally have exactly what I needed- an awesome freestanding dog gate.
