    The slimes are coming!

*by J***P on Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2017*

My only complaint with dungeon core books is that I read them so fast! I can't stop reading one volume, then the second, then the third...now I'm waiting for the fourth with all the impatience of a preschooler opening presents at his birthday party! This series is no exception. The characters are wonderful, the variation between all the slimes is awesome, and the different perspectives of each character is diverse.I'm now conflicted, because part of me wants to be reincarnated as a dragon and wizard, while another part of me wants to come back as a dungeon! I nearly had a nerdgasm in the first book, when the dungeon wanted to eventually have a dragon as his final boss. That would be perfect! Please, release book four tomorrow...or even today if you can. :)(Not joking, by the way!)

uneven writing, shift toward the usual kind of fantasy story...eh.

*by F***T on Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2017*

The first one was kind of cute, but the writing was really rough, and even simply cringe-worthy in spots. Like most authors, there's been some noticeable improvement with more practice writing. In this book, however, the writing is very uneven; there were many parts that were either sloppy or simply badly written (or both), and bits that were really very decently written. It needed much better proofreading and editing (of all sorts; both the tactical sort that catches errors and the more strategic view that says "this bit should end up on the cutting room floor"). And it needed a *lot* more polishing to really shine. The dungeon sections gave the impression the author is simply "done" with writing the actual dungeon POV; what there was of it was sparse, shallow, and mostly used as boring interludes to the human drama. That's sad, as part of what made this series interesting was the quirk of making a story of the other side of the usual ecosystem. What there is of Doc's days isn't very interesting, even to Doc. That's sad, as the series was off to a good start conceptually, and this wastes the work put in to get readers to care about the original characters. It's becoming rather mundane fantasy. This book seems like it was hurried to market, self edited by someone who was overconfident, and is in the process of losing what little made it stand out. Eh. Not exactly terrible, but it really should have been revised a few more times, and had better beta reading and proofing. That said, as I mentioned, I thought there were sections of prose that were quite well done. They were, sadly, heavily outnumbered.

    Bigger And Slimier Than Ever.

*by C***R on Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2021*

Doc, The Slime Dungeon, grows as do the intrigues and assaults of The Empire beyond the City State where it grows. As the plots of Gods and Demons play out in the world outside Doc's Dungeon, it is becoming clear that the Dungeon Town, and Doc himself, are becoming major players in the affairs of the world, but to what ends remains unclear. This Series will likely appeal to fans of the Fantasy, Dungeon Core, and LitRPG genres as well as those who enjoy playing RPGs.
