Review: Amazing and innovative product! - Oh man what is there to say other than I use these practically as a quick and easy porta-power and man does it make adjusting things on the fly with little tools great. These have infinite types of usage and you can exert a lot of force on these, just watch you don't hurt yourself! I can't recommend them enough, however like all tools they do wear, I have had to hammer the rivets a couple of times to ensure I can continue to use them the way I do.
Review: It saved the day - I found myself in a tough spot when, while changing the rear shock absorbers on my car, one of the brackets that holds the shock's head in place was bent inwardly to the point where the shock would not fit no matter what I tried. This is a pretty thick, strong bracket made of solid steel, apparently, that wouldn't budge when I tried to widen the gap. After wasting hours and hours browsing all the local stores to find the right tool, something that would pry things apart, and being repeatedly told there is no such tool on the market, I was at my wit's end. Finally, while scouring the internet, desertcart lived up to its reputation and had this wonderful tool in stock. I got the 10" version since my bracket is so thick and I needed as much torque as possible to get the job done. The verdict? The tool works as advertised and truly saved the day for me. It still took quite a bit of effort and torque to widen the gap on my bracket, to the point where I had to use some pliers in order to be able to turn/tighten the tool. But work it did. The only minor criticism I have, is that the adjusting black lever used to loosen/tighten the tool should/could be a bit thicker and sturdier, since for many people like me, you'll be forced to deal with impossibly stubborn metal surfaces that will not widen easily. Being forced to apply a lot of torque, there's no way you can do this with your bare hands and you will thus have to use pliers or a wrench. In the long run, I can see that it's going to be way too easy to wear out or even damage the black lever by repeatedly using either a wrench or pliers. In my case, after only one use, it's already scratched. Other than that, you'll want to have this great tool around just in case. You won't regret it.

**Q: what is the min. and the max. spread, or limit (size) of the 10-inch model?**
A: Minimum about 1.5" if you take the nut out altogether, and about 5.25" nut in and fully extended.

**Q: Would they provide enough leverage to easily expand brake calipers during brake jobs or not???**
A: No this is not the right tool for that job. The tool you need is a brake pad expander and is only about 10 dollars.

**Q: Would this be able to spread a vinyl window jam?**
A: Probably yes.
Assuming normal window construction and an opening large enough to accommodate the business end of the pliers, yes.
A couple of precautions:
1) Cold or old vinyl can be brittle. Overly aggressive expansion could lead to splintered plastic.
2) Very warm or thin plastic might dent or even puncture. If room allows, consider spreading the force application over the broadest area possible by using something flat and stiff.
Lastly, if you are attempting to permanently overcome warpage, prying the gap open will probably not do the job. The plastic will probably spring right back.

This tool has very specific use. I bought this tool more out of curiosity. I cannot imagine very many if any occasions where i might use it. that being said the tool appears reasonably well made.
