Six people awaken from stasis on a badly damaged warship drifting in space, the problem being that they have somehow had their memories erased and they don't know who they, or anyone else aboard ship, are. It seems that a traitor within the crew has deliberately done this to them for unknown reasons. As they attempt to make sense of what has happened to them, this introduces us to their universe, dominated by the "Galactic Authority" and competing Mega-corporations. It soon becomes apparent that they are (mostly) mercenaries for hire, usually employed by the Corporations to do the kind of dirty work that they don't want to be directly linked to. The revelation that they are the notorious crew of the mercenary ship "The Raza", wanted for mass-murder and piracy does not sit well with the crew but can they alter their lives even if they want to? While I like Science Fiction in general, Dark Matter is one of my favourite types, hard and uncompromising. I thoroughly enjoyed all thirteen episodes and can definitely recommend Dark Matter as a more than worthwhile purchase. I found the last episode particularly effective and can barely wait for the next series to come out.
