So it will skip the feed to avoid overflowing.** A: It does seems to skip a serving of food is backed up into the spout. **Q: Will this notify me if the dispenser is out of food?** A: No. It will notify you every time it dispenses, and if there is a jam… but has no way of knowing if food actually came out. No sensors in place. However, you can get the camera hub, and you can have it set to whenever the food is dispensed the camera will look to face the dispenser. And you can get visual notification. That food came out. **Q: Does the dispenser send any notification when the food dispenser is running out of food? Does it connect with amazon dash?** A: I'm not a huge help in this case since I connected it to homeassistant vs using an aqara hub and app. I haven't seen anything showing the ability to connect to amazon dash or detect if its empty. **Q: Can I program this to automatically feed any time the bowl has become empty? Or will it just release food on a timer or in response to a request?,** A: There is no way for the dispenser to "detect" that the bowl is empty. You would need a camera hub to connect the feeder to and then you would need to bring up the camera feed on your smart device to check the status of the bowl. If it is empty, you could then do an "extra" feeding outside of the timed feeding schedule. I have found that my two cats rarely ever eat more than is dispensed by the feeder.
