Easy fitted and looks good

First I should say this meter box cover looks great when its on.Whilst £50 for a piece of plastic seems like a lot of money when you compare it to the alternative of replacing the Meter box its definitely worth while.If should be easy to install but if you get it slightly out of square then the door doesn't shut properly and needs a bit of a push. I think some instructions and recommended fittings would certainly help most of us who install maybe only one or two of these.

Quicker than stated delivery, next day by Parcel Force. Product is as expected, a white plastic box. Time will tell how durable it is but seems fine. Easily fitted and door can be hung left or right. Delighted to find this as I really didn't want the hassle of finding a local person that would replace the whole meter box - hinges were broken so needed more than just a new door.

Yes, you can fit it upside down. I did! In my photo you will see the “gap” or “inset” is at the top in my photo. Make sure you fit it at the BOTTOM. The door catch is designed to work best with this gap at the bottom. Fit it the other way around and the catch can vibrate into the unlocked position. I have rectified this on mine, but learn from my mistake.Other than that, the box is exactly as others say. Easy to fit, looks lovely afterwards.One other thing. If, like me, you have an inset steel electric box with a full length piano hinge on the door, you will need to drill out the rivets that fix the door to the case to remove the old door. When they start to spin, they can be remove by chiselling the last bit off. (Old flat head screwdriver & a hammer).Secondly, you will need to screw two 15mm / 3/4” battens or furring strips on each side of the old box to give you the additional depth you need as those steel boxes are deeper than 66mm. Screw the cover to the strips and seal around with white silicon.

Good construction and easy to install. Suitable to replace damaged meter enclosure door or frame. Once installed provides a good secure cover to electricity and gas meters.
