Review: Best Film Ever…! - I was a National Geographic photographer for a decade and for every assignment I literally shot hundreds of rolls of Fuji Velvia film. Its ability to capture colors quickly made it everyone’s favorite film. Now, it’s all but impossible to find and at $56 per roll it’s very expensive. If you still have a film and you’re lucky enough to find a fresh roll I totally recommend you try it. There’s never been a better color transparency film.
Review: Very nice colors - I used this film mostly to get pictures of mountains and flowers on a trip to Crested Butte in Colorado and the results were superb! The colors were even more vibrant than I thought and the image contrast exceeded my expectations. Every element of the scene showed up very well, even when a digital picture of the same scene made a distant mountain peak look less distinct or more hazy. I hope that Fuji keeps making Velvia for a long time, and that it becomes easier to find.

I was a National Geographic photographer for a decade and for every assignment I literally shot hundreds of rolls of Fuji Velvia film. Its ability to capture colors quickly made it everyone’s favorite film. Now, it’s all but impossible to find and at $56 per roll it’s very expensive. If you still have a film and you’re lucky enough to find a fresh roll I totally recommend you try it. There’s never been a better color transparency film.

I used this film mostly to get pictures of mountains and flowers on a trip to Crested Butte in Colorado and the results were superb! The colors were even more vibrant than I thought and the image contrast exceeded my expectations. Every element of the scene showed up very well, even when a digital picture of the same scene made a distant mountain peak look less distinct or more hazy. I hope that Fuji keeps making Velvia for a long time, and that it becomes easier to find.
