Review: Tracks wires behind walls and floors without opening up the walls or floors - This product worked as advertised! I had to help someone find why they had no power at their outlet. This tool when hooked up to the outlet in question helped me find a hidden outlet (junk hiding it) where the root cause was found. 2.5 hrs later and everything worked as should. This tool is awesome!! Just remember that the power must be off or it will arc / pop. Follow the instructions to the letter and you will be fine

I got stumped trying to find the source of a light switch and this helped me track it back to an outlet that should not have been on a light circuit. Would not have been able to trace it back any other way. Also found out once it was hooked up that I had a short to ground that I was able to correct. Very easy to use just watch a couple of Youtube videos. Well worth the price versus calling an electrician in to troubleshoot and repair.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: will it trace a single wire**
A: I just tried it because I wasn't sure, you won't be able to trace the wire in the wall but you will be able to identify a single conductor when you touch the probe to the other end of it.

**Q: I need to trace a 12V wire through an RV to determine where it is shorted; is this device appropriate for this purpose?**
A: If you can get to the wire or know where it is running it will work to trace where you are losing power RV walls are pretty thin

**Q: Can I use this kit to find a Cat-5 cable behind sheetrock, 2-3 inches at most ?  If not, which product does this ?**
A: Not sure.  You might be able to if you can connect the tone generator to one end of the Cat5 cable.  The signal would be very faint, at best, as this device is made for the probe to actually touch the wire.

Not familiar with a tone generator that would work this way, but the Home Depot has a device that will allow you to see through walls to see what's behind it.  Sound like that would be more what you need.

**Q: Will this test camera wires with rj45's at each end to confirm  proper connections**
A: If you just need to test for continuity then you can put an rj45 jack on each end and tone one end and test the other you can see if you have continuity

Works great. I bought a house that had both cat5 and cat3 wirings done all over the home. It helped me trace down where everything went in the home and redo and crimp ends that weren't done correctly. Now I have a correctly hard wired and networked home.
