He is no longer limping. As a 12 year old, he was pretty mellow. We'd ice for about 20 minutes and this pack held up great. I was thankful they even have ice packs for felines :) We did try frozen peas but it got too much for him to allow past 12 minutes, at least this small pack just went over what I assumed was his inflamed tendon. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best brand for cold therapy! Small size perfect for many uses on people or pets! *by O***D on Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2018* Pay attention to the dimensions listed, or you might be surprised by the small size... which, in my case, were exactly what I needed!I have long been a fan of Caldera packs to treat my back shoulder and neck pain. They stay nice & cold longer, eliminate the hassle & potential leakage of using regular ice, and don’t freeze hard like many other packs I’ve tried (even a couple of brands who said that they’d stay flexible when frozen). Their flexibility when fully frozen is an important feature as you can shape them to conform to the area needing cold therapy. Being able to shape them to conform the area that’s hurting is important so that the whole area gets treated, but without adding to existing pain the way flat hard blocks or ice bags with corners of the ice cubes poking out into tender areas do.Although these small packs are listed as being for pets, in my experience, they work the same as those designated as being for people. In fact I use them interchangeably according the size needed to properly treat the area in pain. I can certainly see how this small size would be good for cats and small dogs, as well as to put on the owies of small kids (after wrapping in a towel, wash cloth or tying up in a tube sock... Pets with thick fur probably wouldn’t need wrapping over the ice pack unless it’s an area without a lot of fur like a leg on, say, a Yorkie, or on the ears of many breeds of even large dogs).When I fractured my hand in three places in a car accident, all my existing packs were too big and, more importantly, much too heavy to rest on the back of my very tender & swollen broken hand after the surgeon screwed a bunch of bones back together.Initially, my hand was in a hard splint, and I could use my big caldera packs without any cover on them. Later on, after I was taking the splint off to do exercises and needed to ice down the back of my hand afterwards without the splint on, these small packs turned out to be just the thing, especially given their low price as prime add-on items.If you’re going to be doing a lot of cold therapy with them, you will need several because their small size means that they lose the coldness quicker than the bigger packs (with lots more of the blue stuff inside). They don’t come with any cover, but I easily made one by cutting the end off of a tube sock (so I could stick my fingers through) and then placed the Caldera pack on top of that.As I mentioned before, the light weight of this small size was just the thing since it didn’t add to my pain like the big packs did. Also, with their light weight I could easily make them *mobile* cold therapy by using an ace bandage or bit of vet wrap (the stretchy colored bandages that stick to themselves) to hold one and later two of these packs on the back & front sides of my hand.
