Having a recent diagnosis my meds play havoc with feeling "hot" in enclosed spaces. This fan has 3 speeds the lowest you can still hear (dull hum maybe annoying to some in a quiet environment maybe at night) but compared to a previous fans it's no way near as noisy. Used it at work in an open plan office and no complaints to turn it off even on 2nd setting but it was pretty hot ! The fan is easily detachable from the base and not sure what lightweight is but not to bad to carry but I have a large tote.
