Since it would be using in the living room where we watch TV, a unit that operated quietly was preferred. We tried two units from local box stores, but either they had an unstable base for carpet or were too noisy. Since box units in the stores do not list decibel scores, it meant shopping online. This Pelonis unit checked off several boxes: as quiet as 32 Db, swivel base, taller unit, controls on top, 3 fan settings, tip-over and overheating safeguards, and the bonus of a remote. We've been using this regularly for the past few days, and it performs quite well. The highest fan setting is quiet enough that it does not interfere with TV or music sounds. The swiveling mechanism is quiet and moves at a good enough pace to distribute heated air evenly. The ceramic heating element is long enough to create heat for a larger area, and sits high enough in the unit to make it safer to operate. The control buttons on the unit and the remote are simple and easy to navigate. It's a powerful unit, but hours of continuous operation do not cause the cord to overheat, as does with some units. We highly recommend this unit. Yes, there are some units that are quieter, and we considered another on; however, it was $45 more expensive than this one.
