Product description Steenbergs Organic Fairtrade Turmeric comes from an organic and Fair Trade co-operative in the Kandy region of Sri Lanka. Turmeric is a rhizome that is grown as an annual and looks similar to ginger and galangal. Powdered organic Fairtrade turmeric is bright yellow and has a distinct earthy aroma and a pleasing, sharp, bitter, spicy and lingering depth of flavour. Organic Fairtrade turmeric powder is an essential ingredient for Indian and South East Asian cuisine. Steenbergs was the first company in the UK to offer spices carrying the Fairtrade Mark. Review: Ordered by mistake but love it - I meant to order the Cayenne Pepper from this brand which we often buy. Not sure how I ordered the wrong thing, but received Turmeric. I really don't like the taste of Turmeric even though I know it is good for you, but this one has changed my mind about the taste. I will go through this jar a lot faster than the one I had in my cupboard forever. I am thankful I ordered wrong :)

I drink a LOT hot chocolate and like to change it up a bit. Having read of many benefits of turmeric I sometimes add it to chocolate drinks. Turmeric has a slightly nutty flavour. I probably don't use enough to experience its healing qualities - yet.
