And is it simply a matter of rinsing it to clean it .** A: Every few weeks just clean your sponge in some of the water your are ridding during the water changes. Just squeeze it which will remove any gunk! Downside is that all the wires from the light and the filter don't have anywhere to go, so the lid's always at a slightly jaunty angle.
