Review: Happy so far! - I bought this Burns Dog Food for my dog as the vet mentioned that he is overweight to me recently (which is probably my fault as I can’t resist giving him treats!). So far, I’ve been really pleased with it. He seems to genuinely enjoy the food and eats it without any fuss. One thing I was concerned about with a weight-control food was whether he’d be left feeling hungry, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. He hasn’t been begging for food any more than usual and appears satisfied between meals. A few people have commented recently that he looks slightly slimmer, which is encouraging. He’s a very big dog, so unfortunately we don’t have scales large enough at home to track his weight accurately. Hopefully at his next vet appointment we’ll be able to see some measurable progress. Overall, it seems like a good quality food that my dog enjoys, and I’m hopeful it’s helping him move towards a healthier weight while still keeping him happy and satisfied.

**Q: Is this Gluten free?**
A: I'm not 100% sure as I don't know a lot about gluten but I think so as its oats, brown rice, chicken meal, peas, drawers and minerals of that helps. My pug list all his extra chub and maintains a good healthy weight on these without me feeling as though I'm starving him to death

**Q: Does anyone know if this is low in salt please?**
A: If you look at ingredients on the picture of Burns there seems to be no mention of salt but not being a chemical expert I do not recognise any name that shouts ‘salt’.

**Q: How long would a burns wet food pouch last a welsh terrier (about 12kg)?**
A: Not the as only use the dry food. Should be able to work out via amount to give per portion.

**Q: I’ve just had a email to say this product is temporarily unavailable, how temporary is it?? Can’t see who to contact worried as I need it for my dogs.**
A: Ah...we've purchased our Burns weight control 12kg from Amazon for a good few years on subscribe n save as was the cheapest but all of a sudden they've stopped selling it. So we now buy from Medicanimal website on their subscription and it's now the cheapest we can find. 
I would suggest you look elsewhere. Hope this helps. Joby.

I bought this Burns Dog Food for my dog as the vet mentioned that he is overweight to me recently (which is probably my fault as I can’t resist giving him treats!). I've been feeding my Shih Tzu this food since it's previous "High Oats" incarnation. Vet initially suggested I try it as he was prone to quite frequent and bad bouts of constipation on his previous kibble, and she thought that the formulation of this food may help. In his case it worked brilliantly but ***Disclaimer*** I have to say that if you are considering switching your dog's food for a similar reason you should ask your vet or animal nutritionist first, there are lots of different causes and changing food could make it worse. Anyhoo, he has been on this now for about 7 years and is doing incredibly well, he has a lovely thick and health coat, great digestive system and is showing no sign of getting fed up with the same food all day every day despite being the kind of dog who has no hesitation in refusing to eat something if it isn't up to his standard (unfortunately there is no telling what his standard is but this meets it). He's getting on a bit now at almost 10 and his weight hasn't been an issue, I have to keep him lean as he has arthritis but looking at the size of his portions it is still a good amount and he doesn't seem hungry after eating. Does it have all the bright colours and fancy shapes of the cheaper dog food - No, and that's because it isn't laden with additives and unnecessary things, it is a great quality food which gives your dogs what they need and doesn't include all the chemicals they don't.
