The vial diameter is also much larger than required, so you'll waste at least 8 oz of your brew to get the hydrometer to float. I ended up purchasing a clear vial from a local retailer that works much better. The scale is easy to read through the clear tube, and about half the amount of beer is required to get a good reading with the same hydrometer. Don't waste your money on the kit.
