Despite that and knowing that even a 2 player game will run at least 2 hours, this game is incredibly thematic. you are dependent on what the other players do almost every step of the way. i highly recommend getting this game if you want a fun challenge that will easily help you understand the workings of how economies function. if you want to play this solo, then easily pick up the expansion as well and you will easily enjoy this game even more.

Hegemony is one of the most thoughtful and engaging board games I’ve ever played. If you enjoy heavy strategy games that actually say something about the world, this one is an absolute standout. Fair warning to all. This is a Heavy Game. if you are used to simple games like ticket to ride then proceed with caution. there are a lot of moving parts since there are four unique classes that all play differently. Despite that and knowing that even a 2 player game will run at least 2 hours, this game is incredibly thematic. you are dependent on what the other players do almost every step of the way. i highly recommend getting this game if you want a fun challenge that will easily help you understand the workings of how economies function. if you want to play this solo, then easily pick up the expansion as well and you will easily enjoy this game even more.

It's a heavy game. First time playing expect 5hrs. Bring fluids and take breaks for snacks and food. There is so much nuance to every playthrough. Enough classes to try out that you may never master 1. It is higher up on the difficulty scale and isn't easy to pull out and play. Watch some videos. There weren't a lot available that really explained what was happening but I found one good one and it helped us along our way. Overall if you like heavy board games with a lot of strategy and table talk then this is for you. You won't be able to win on your own so you'll need to find someone to try and work with at some point.
