What I really appreciate is that the designer/manufacturer has followed through with the cord being white (I ordered the white lamp). It is so irritating when you order a white fixture or appliance and when it arrives you discover that there has been no design awareness in this regard and the cord is black. In order to use this floor lamp as both a task and an ambient light source, you will need to order a plug in dimmer, which is fine. Overall, I encourage you to purchase this lamp.
