If it's been bounced around a bit in transit the leads may be broken Although saying that, my pen was really well packaged with plenty of padding. I know if I drop any of my mechanical pencils, the leads can break. **Q: The twist mechanism barrel can be very slightly be pushed down. Is this meant to happen?** A: I think that if there wasn't a slight amount of play (on mine, it's a lot less than a millimetre) then the twist mechanism would grind a bit when it's twisted. **Q: does this item also work as a stylus?** A: the stylus version of this pencil is the 800+ **Q: Are these the newer ones made in Japan ?** A: I have a bunch of Japanese rotring pencils, and think they are better than the German ones. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really solid and satisfying mechanical pencil *by C***R on 4 April 2026* Really solid and precise mechanical pencil - I love the twist open/close for the lead pipe too, which protects it from being bent when not in use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality *by S***H on 15 July 2026* Very nice pencil with 2b lead loaded. Is it worth the money? For me yes I write a lot and it gives me great pleasure using a quality tool ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliant work pencil, and the retractable tip is genuinely useful *by C***E on 3 March 2026* I use this pencil for office work and it’s easily the best mechanical pencil I’ve owned. It feels solid and premium because of the metal body, and it’s comfortable to write with for long periods. The weight makes it feel stable and controlled rather than flimsy. The standout feature for me is the retractable tip. It makes a real difference if you carry stationery around because I can put it in my pocket or bag without worrying the tip will bend or snap. That single feature makes it far more practical day to day than standard mechanical pencils, especially for commuting or moving between meeting rooms. Everything about it feels precise and well made, from the mechanism to the overall finish. It is more expensive than a basic pencil, but if you use it for work regularly it feels worth it because it’s reliable, satisfying to use, and built like something you’ll keep for years. ## Frequently Bought Together - Rotring 800 Mechanical Pencil 0.7Mm Black - rOtring 0.7mm 2B Super Polymer Pencil Lead - Pack of 3 Tubes - 72 Leads in Total - Refills for Mechanical Pencils - Rotring 1892340 Eraser Refill - Eraser Refills (White) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.hr/products/56630265-1904446-800-retractable-mechanical-pencil-0-7-mm-black](https://www.desertcart.hr/products/56630265-1904446-800-retractable-mechanical-pencil-0-7-mm-black) --- *Product available on Desertcart Croatia* *Store origin: HR* *Last updated: 2026-10-02*
