I decided to get away from Verizon’s forever payment plan and as such I started shopping around for a new phone. I like the size of the iPhone Pro Max because I have fairly large hands and fat fingers. Because I always bought my phones through Verizon which I’ve come to realize is a major ripoff. At Verizon, you trade in your old phone which they refurbish and sell again. Then in monthly payments you the full price or more for your new phone. New iPhones from Apple.com begin at $1100. Refurbished iPhone 15 Pro Max 512 GB are $1000 and come with a new battery and screen. This iPhone 14 Pro Max arrived in two days. It cost $485 which is $200 less than the Apple Store was charging for the iPhone 14 Pro Max when it was available (no longer available). It arrived with what appears to be a new screen and 88% Battery Life. Even if I need to change the battery in a year or two at Best Buy, I still come out $100 ahead. ### ⭐ DO NOT BUY *by on Reviewed in the United States June 14, 2026* Do not buy from this seller. I never review anything on amazon but this should be a 0 star product.I bought what was advertised as the best version available — an iPhone 14 Pro Max in "excellent" condition. The first unit they sent arrived with 81% battery health and an aftermarket screen (this model never shipped with anything but Apple OEM). I complained and returned it.The replacement was a little better at 91% battery health, which I was fine with — but it also had a non-OEM aftermarket screen. I figured it would hold up. It didn't.Before you read this, the phone was never dropped, not once, in a case with a screen protector without any damage.After two months the touchscreen started misbehaving and freezing constantly. I took it to the Apple Store, and the only fix they had was a soft reset, which bought me about a month before the freezing came back. By month three it was freezing daily — the soft reset would temporarily revive it, but at that point I'd already passed the seller's window, and they told me they could no longer refund me since it was over 90 days.About a month later the screen froze completely and stopped working altogether. Apple told me there was nothing they could do, and I had to buy a brand-new phone to stay functional.I decided to repair the dead unit myself. Once I opened it up, the truth was obvious: the seller had installed the cheapest, lowest-quality aftermarket screen money can buy. On top of that, whoever did the swap left out two of the screws that hold internal components in place. I replaced it with a high-quality screen for about $200 total, and now it finally works the way it should have from day one.Bottom line: I was sold a phone with a garbage screen and a sloppy repair job, then left without recourse once the freezing started after the return window closed.
