Review: It works, but it's also flawed. - Having used the standard Ultrabreathe for several years and given them to family and friends, I was especially satisfied with my purchase until the plastic ball inside the unit started to degrade due to wear and tear, making me worried about microplastics entering my lungs. I bought this upgraded unit as I read it used a rubber gasket as a valve instead of a plastic ball - potentially making it a safer option to use. Unfortunately, the design is inherently flawed: once you pass 2.5 on the resistance marker, the gasket reaches its maximum resistance level due to how the unit is made. Dialing the resistance up to 10 holds the gasket down with the same force as 2.5, 3, 4, etc... Ultimately, it still functions as a fantastic lung exerciser, but the option of a truly variable resistance lets it down overall.

Having used the standard Ultrabreathe for several years and given them to family and friends, I was especially satisfied with my purchase until the plastic ball inside the unit started to degrade due to wear and tear, making me worried about microplastics entering my lungs. I bought this upgraded unit as I read it used a rubber gasket as a valve instead of a plastic ball - potentially making it a safer option to use. Unfortunately, the design is inherently flawed: once you pass 2.5 on the resistance marker, the gasket reaches its maximum resistance level due to how the unit is made.
