Slightly small for mantel clock; it's definitely a bedside design. Silent. The second hand is very near to smooth sweep but doesn't quite manage it ; the seconds are defined but you need a sharp eye to see it. This is a lovely clock which doesn't scream out style; it just has it in subtle abundance - an oxymoron which, in this case,makes perfect sense.
