If your coped piece only needs to be "tuned" a little, then medium grit sandpaper or a round file might be better. **Q: does this cut hickory easily? I have a lot of wood to remove.** A: I wouldn't say it cuts at all so much as heavily files. If you have a LOT of wood to remove, I'd look into a spoke shave, draw knife, or rasp saw. That said, I own this set and they are wonderful for rough shaping maple (which is almost as hard as hickory). **Q: Are these made in China?** A: I have not used mine in a few months. I am sure they are marked China.
