But this is seriously a great item. The extra straps for wrists seem like a good idea for when the walker/toddler gets older and doesn't sprint off in the same way with the same impulsive abandon. Mine was too young for that when he started walking and wiggling out of my arms at one years old. I'd say now at 2.5 he's getting closer to only needing that and it might be ok now and certainly by 3. But I've already lost that part of this get up when I realized it would Not work for him in the beginning. So if that happens to you, keep up with that extra wrist band part because it might be perfect later when they are better at staying near. Since you asked I tried it on my 8 year old. He is a little smaller than 4.5ft around 55lbs. This is what it looked like on him. I dont have a video I took pics. It did "fit him" the straps were able to be adjusted and have about 1.5 inch of slack around the chest. **Q: Is the length of the strap adjustable?** A: Comes with 2 straps. The cloth strap is not adjustable but it is easy to wrap it around your hand to shorten the length when needed. The other strap is accordion and I have not used as I don't think you could easily adjust the length to which it would extent if the child was pulling on it. **Q: Going camping and are curious the weight resistance of the chest buckle on the backpack? We’re taking a hiking trail with no cliffs but just incase.** A: It might hold 10 pounds at best.
