I tried medium and the pouch was too small, tight like traditional swim briefs I have to cut the liner out, less coverage as well and tight overall. XL was more coverage but pouch way too roomy. Large is perfect fit for me. My workouts consists of 30 minutes in pool and 10 minutes spa, 3-5 times weekly. This suit was thoroughly rinsed after each swim and delicate laundered warm water weekly, air dry only. However, durability and color retention are weak points. Color began to fade within 2 weeks and became worse until appearance was in pictures. At 8 weeks the material "blows out", as I call it, where the elasticity of the suit material fails and becomes loose. This happened in the rear, where stressed, and front of pouch which is not stressed. I would give the suit 4 stars based on durability and fading. However since it is amazingly comfortable and excels in features I value highly, it retains 5 stars.
