The inside area is large enough to hold several children. They are quite showy and the children loved them. I would recommend them, and will buy them again next year. I painted the pirate ship for Halloween and set it up when we camped and it transported very nicely. We disassemble it when transporting **Q: Is this too small for a 4ft child to comfortably use?** A: My average size four year old fit fine **Q: How do kids get in and out of it? Is there a door?** A: Depending on their size, the kids can climb over that middle part, between the decorative railings. However, I think there was a place to cut open a door there, too. It said 30 minutes for 2 people, and I did it in less than that by myself. Not hard to put together at all. The instructions even come with hints for how to complete the steps more easily. It is somewhat “wobbly” side to side where the seams are from it being folded to fit into a box, but way more sturdy than I had anticipated with it being cardboard. Spacious! My daughter fit a stool (to hold the pirate ship steering wheel from her bed😜), a toddler-size chair, and random items she added for her “trip in her ship.” It also holds my big middle-schooler and toddler together. I saw a comment on the inside being brown? But they must have upgraded that since, because the inside of my daughter’s is white. The cardboard isn’t cheap packaging cardboard, it’s sturdy so it will hold up to painting if that’s how you or your child wants to decorate it.
